Camillian Social Center - Rayong Thailand - St. Camillus Foundation of Thailand Child care center

Child care center
Child care center
Child care centerThe orphaned children at the Camillian Childcare Center come from very poor circumstances or have been abandoned at a local hospital. They have been referred to the Center through the Government’s Social Welfare Department, whom we work closely with. Many of the children arrive with AIDS and with the proper care and nourishment have gone back to being HIV positive.

Our activities for the benefit of orphaned children living with HIV/AIDS began in January 1996. The children need special care and attention because of the effects of the virus and the side effects of the medicine. Presently, there are fifty-five (55) children in our care. Thirty-six (36) children live at our main Center, fourteen (14) live at the Independent Living Center and five (5) live at the Garden of Eden. Amongst these children, there are nine (9) children who are not HIV positive but their lives are affected because their parents are living with HIV/AIDS.

The forty-six (46) HIV positive children are receiving the anti-retroviChild care centerral treatment and are enrolled in the Government’s Pediatric Access to Care (PATC) program.

The Camillian Childcare Center provides literacy classes to fifteen (15) children who are unable to attend the local schools at this time. These classes will enable the children to eventually attend schools in the local area. Twenty (20) of the children are attending classes in seven local schools. The youngest child is only 2 years old and stays with her mother.

Like all children, those living with HIV/AIDS are entitled to the best treatment and to a good quality of life, full of happiness. The children participate in activities and outings that are meant to broaden the children’s view of the world, to help develop a positive attitude to life and to improve their physical, psychological and intellectual well being.
